Well we are yet to start planning yet as both my fiance and i are unsure where to start! we would like to get married by the middle of the year as we would like both sets of granparents to be there as it is important to us. We dont have a massive budget it only is around $4000 dollars.
We live on the Mornington Peninsula in Victoria and would like to keep it local if possible as most of our family are local. I would also like to know would it be cheaper to marry in a church or getting a celebrant? would love to hear back from you
Kind Regards,
Dani Flynn
Hi Dani
Congratulations on your engagement and all of the future wedding plans!
I just a look at the pictures of Mornington Peninsula and you are so lucky, it is beautiful!
As to cost of whether you have a church or an officiant it depends and you really will need to check with local venues yourselves. If you have an officiant you will have their cost and also a venue hire for the wedding ceremony - your state park charges for weddings, however if you have your wedding ceremony at home or at a friends or family's home then this will reduce the cost. If one of your family attends a local church regularly then have a chat with them as they may be able to find a way to keep the costs down.
Start by sorting out your ceremony and date and then the numbers of guests and so on. Print off our free wedding checklist to keep you on track.
If you are careful with your budget you will be able to have your wedding for $4000, your biggest expense will be the wedding venue and reception, if you keep this at the same place this will save money.
Have a look at our ideas for cheap wedding reception food.
Good luck with all of your plans.
