Have no idea where to start. Would like a pretty wedding in a small hotel in devon or somerset. A civil ceromony and meal afterwards and overnight accommodation for ourselves and 10 of the wedding guests. For 2010
Hi Leah
You will be looking in the region of £40 a head for food and drinks packages for the wedding breakfast, plus room hire. Civil ceremonies room hire on average is £200-£300. You may need to pay a room hire for an evening reception possibly £300 and then you may want an evening buffet - the cheapest will be about £10 a head.
As with everything you can find things cheaper and of course more expensive!
You will also have costs for flowers, decorations and possibly entertainment.
You should get a discount on bedrooms as you are having your wedding there and your room should be comlimentary.
As a starting point you need to have a look for all the venues that will be able to hold your numbers and ask for their brochures. Compare prices and shortlist the ones that you like. Arrange to visit your shortlisted venues but don't book at the time - even if they push you! Sit down and compare the venues you like and then decide.
As well as hotels have a look at other styles of venues. Business conference hotels are not as busy during the weekends and could be perfect. Social clubs and sports venues also could be perfect for you.
Good luck finding your perfect venue!
